About Us

Hi, I’m Karen I love planning trips, researching destinations and finding the best travel experiences and the one behind Escapes with Teens.

We’re a family of four from Scotland, trying to make travel work with two very different teenagers. Our daughter is 15 and loves anything aesthetic from dreamy beaches to cafés with good lighting. Our 13-year-old son is all about sport, action and anything that sounds like fun. My husband and I just try to keep everyone fed, entertained and mostly on time.

So far, our favourite destination has been Thailand it had the mix of adventure, culture, and chill time. We actually got married there 20+ years ago, so it holds a very special place in our hearts. Being able to return with our teens felt incredibly special and we felt so lucky to share it with them.

I work full time so i’m doing this in my spare time while juggling life with two teens – but here goes! I’ve never done anything like this before, but I’ve discovered that i love to write, plan and document our travels. It’s became my way of capturing memories, sharing what’s worked for us and hopefully inspiring other families to travel more – without blowing the budget.

Right now we’re deep in planning for our next big adventure – three weeks in Vietnam – and I can’t wait to share every step of the journey with you here.
